Concern Piaggio was founded in 1884 and at the very beginning was engaged in the production of ships, aircraft and industrial equipment. World fame came to the company in 1946 in connection with the release of the legendary scooters – Vespa scooters.
In the 1960s, the owners of the company acquired the brand Silera, as a result of which Piaggio was able to expand the offer with mopeds with 50-cc engines.
The whole history of the company kept pace with the times, updating the model line in time and modernizing the mototechnics with modern requirements. Today, Piaggio is the largest European manufacturer of scooters and motorcycles, whose share in the market fluctuates at the level of 38-42 percent. You can see the Piaggio logo both in Western and Eastern Europe, and at all major world auto and motor shows.
In 1999, a large German bank Deutsche Bank acquired a controlling stake in Piaggio.
Today, the Piaggio offer includes mopeds, scooters and motorcycles with engines ranging in size from 50 to 800 cubic centimeters.
